low post rope bed detailThis 18th century low post rope bed was commissioned by Old Sturbridge Village for a hands on display and is a replica of one in their colllection. The bed uses no hardware. The head and foot being mortise and tenon joints with draw bore pins and the side rails held in place with the rope spring. The low headboard and use of several species of wood was common. The bed is in a washed paint finish. Maple posts and headboard, ash rails. Shown here in an antique size (approximately 48 x 72"). This bed is available in a variety of wood and sizes with standard bed bolt construction.

Available in any size in maple with stained or painted finish and in tiger maple, cherry or mahogany in a natural or stained finish.

Each bed is based on an antique bed design and individually built to your specifications in our shop with your choice of headboard, rails, mattress support and finials where appropriate.
