This simple bed was probably found in every farmhouse in the country at one time or another. Although called a hired man's bed this style was also used for a child's bed and in the birthing room. A simple bed to construct, it required no lathe, only saws and planes. Even the wood bed bolt covers could be made on the farm. Shown in maple, twin size with worn blue paint. The rope trim is added to give it the appearance of a rope bed.
